  1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?

My product, the “Umbrella” music video, is a vastly different experience than normal. Instead of the usual story where the person himself is the main character, this video throws that idea out the window. It begins with a man shooting hoops by himself looking a little depressed. But here is where it gets interesting. Not just one, but two of his friends appear, and suddenly a story about the incredible power of friendship begins. What is special about this video is that it shakes up the typical dynamics of a friend group. It is not just about having the same hobbies. By easily combining different activities, this video debunks the idea that friends must be interested in the exact same things. This challenges the stereotype that friends must fit into these neat little interests. The cast of friends is also pretty diverse, which is really cool. This shows that it is possible to break the mold and build friendships between people from diverse backgrounds. It is like saying, "Hey, we can be friends with anyone, no matter where you're from." Another way it represents social groups and issues is that loneliness is a big problem, and this video does not shy away from that. It definitely shows that friends are like a superpower against loneliness. This shows that friendship is not just about good times. It is a support system when you are in trouble and need help. So, this music video is not just about breaking stereotypes; It is about prioritizing friendships, celebrating diversity, and tackling genuine issues like loneliness. All of this comes together in a visually and auditory appealing and emotional package. Basically, it's about rewriting the rules and making the friendship of people the main character and protagonist of the story.

  1. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?

The music video for “Umbrella” is all about charming you and making friends with the “loser.” It starts with a person playing basketball alone feeling depressed. But then two of his friends suddenly appear, and from then on everything revolves around the power of friendship and how they can do anything with it. With this it shows everyone who watches it how they should be, becoming friends with people who need it and helping them through tricky situations. To get everyone hooked, we would release it on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, where everyone basically gathers. Teasers, sneak peeks, and maybe a challenge or two would make things even more exciting. We would also plan to use major music streaming services such as Spotify and Apple or YouTube Music to enable repeat vibrations. We would hope the audiences share the love by tagging social media stars who value good vibes and friendships. And, if we're feeling fancy, maybe submit it to some film festivals or something like it – you know, get it out there where it could grab some awards. The goal is to make it feel like your story too. So, we would chat on socials, maybe start a hashtag, and hear about everyone else's friendship stories. It would not just be a music video; it would be like a friend song we could all enjoy.

  1. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

Creating the "Umbrella" music video was a dynamic learning experience full of lessons learned. Transforming the song into a visual narrative was an advanced storytelling exercise, requiring a nuanced approach to convey themes such as loneliness and the transformative impact of friendship. Featuring an exploratory process of experimenting with different camera angles, the shoot served as a platform for refining visual storytelling techniques. The subsequent editing process resembles a kind of artistic alchemy, including synchronizing visual and musical elements and using special effects to emphasize the key "Power of Friendship" sequence, creating cinematic vignettes. Comparable to the creation of. Working together as a team created a new dimension that required competent leadership and teamwork. Directing actors, coordinating collective vision, and ensuring visual execution consistent with initial conceptualization contributed to a broader understanding of effective team dynamics. The aural elements of the video, including the careful blending of the song and accompanying images and the incorporation of background noise, were key challenges in making the video more immersive. Beyond its technical complexity, the "Umbrella" video emphasized a conscientious approach to audience engagement. By consciously considering the emotions and understanding of the audience, adjustments were made to create meaningful connections. Essentially, this project takes the form of a condensed film school curriculum, providing valuable insight into storytelling, cinematography, editing, teamwork dynamics, and audience response, thereby enhancing creative thinking. It has surpassed its status as an initiative. This journey was definitely transforming and resulted in personal and professional growth.

  1. How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?

When creating the music video for "Umbrella," we dug deep into our technical expertise to ensure exceptional quality. Equipped with world-class cameras on our iPhones, our main goal was to meticulously capture every subtle emotion and movement and transform the captured footage into a visual masterpiece. Using our software, especially Cap Cut, the editing process had become both careful and exciting. Using this tool, we synchronized the scene with the rhythm of the music and added layers of enchantment using After Effects, transforming the video into a beautiful movie.
