My product, the “Umbrella” music video, is a vastly different experience than normal. Instead of the usual story where the person himself is the main character, this video throws that idea out the window. It begins with a man shooting hoops by himself looking a little depressed. But here is where it gets interesting. Not just one, but two of his friends appear, and suddenly a story about the incredible power of friendship begins. What is special about this video is that it shakes up the typical dynamics of a friend group. It is not just about having the same hobbies. By easily combining different activities, this video debunks the idea that friends must be interested in the exact same things. This challenges the stereotype that friends must fit into these neat little interests. The cast of
